Dutch Star

From the loft of Leo Rijsdijk - “the superstar from Wassenaar” (NL), Dutch Star was crowned 2nd National Ace Oldbird WHZB 2000.
For more than 10 years Leo Rijsdijk has been the man to beat on the one day races in the traditionally very strong combine ‘De Kuststrook’. Year after year he excelled from short distance to the one day long distance races, winning many championships, acebird titles and 1st prizes in big competition.
Leo was not only unbeatable in the near surroundings, but also in the highest level of competition, he made a name for himself. At the national level his pigeons grabbed the following prestigious titles:
1st National NPO Etampes 8,383 birds
2nd National acebird of the Netherlands WHZB
5th best fancier of the Netherlands
8th National acebird of the Netherlands WHZB
Very seldom did Leo enter over 20 widowers for a race, and still created anxiety with those he raced against. In the autumn of 2004, Leo was told by his doctor that it was better for his health to sale his pigeons. In February, 2005, Saunders Loft was able to purchase some of the most spectacular of Leo Rijsdijk birds.
Dutch Star won 37 prize cards, 12 x in the top 1% and 19 x best 10%, some of which are:

Special thanks to Marcel Sangers who helped us acquire this great bird.
We feel very fortunate to have a great champion such as Dutch Star at Saunders Loft. We expect Dutch Star's winning record to continue through his children to add to the winning tradition of our loft.
