Loft 2005 Young Bird Season:
My birds did great in 2005, with 5 on the ARPU national database, and because
of the success of my birds on the local level in my first couple of years racing,
I wanted
to
see
how
they
would
do
in One
Loft
Races
and began
to move my focus
in that
direction.
I sent some birds to the Vegas Connection Race which
was a 3 race series. A full sister to True Love, 1st National Ace Pigeon
YB 2004, was 1st in the
150 mile race. The next week, on the 200 mile race, I looked up the results
on the internet. At first, I thought I was looking at the 150 mile
race results again, because the race sheet showed the same
bird in 1st place. I was excited to learn that she had also won 1st place in
the 200 mile race.
I decided to travel to Vegas for the 300 mile race. As I was handed the bird,
just before she was basketed, my knees just about buckled. She had a broken
keel bone!!
Her broken chest bone caught me by so much surprise that without thinking,
I handed her back to the person basketing the birds and before I knew it, she
was basketed and on her way to the 300 mile race.
That night I could not sleep. I realized this was a special bird and I had
just sent her to a race she did not have a chance to win. What worried me even
more was the probability that I would never see her again. With a good 1/4"
split in her keel bone, the chances of her making it back from the 300 mile
race were very slim.
She did not win the 300 mile race, but to my great surprise, she was one of
only 12 day birds. I named her Vegas Hearts, because she truly is a bird with
"heart", convincing me even more that my Adam & Eve breeders,
are indeed, amazing producers!!

Loft 2006 Young Bird Season:
2006 was a bitter, sweet year for me. I had recently purchased
many new breeders and was excited to see how they would match up to my proven
pairs. But it was not to be. At the time, I was on the top of the club results,
but because of an unexpected business challenge, I was forced to stop racing
in
the middle
of the young bird season.
Earlier in the season, I had sent birds to different One Loft Races, so I
still had something to look forward to.
Here are the results of those races:
1st Place - 323 mile Ohio Breeders Classic (ahead of the 2nd place bird by
2.46 minutes)
Equal 1st (2 birds) - 150 mile Ohio Breeders Classic (One bird entered the
clock at exactly the same time with the 1st place bird, 0:00 to win)
Equal 1st - Vegas Classic Race (winning $9,000)
Equal 1st - Four Winds Classic
14th Overall Ace Pigeon - Spirit of Colorado
2 birds in the money - AU Convention Race (from different lofts)
These birds win races!!!
